LA Co. FD Museum

LA Co. FD Museum

In the mid-1970s, two Los Angeles County firefighters began what would become the County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association. By the end of the 80’s, our museum formally organized under the State of California as a not-for-profit public benefit corporation. The Association acquired and still maintain a space in the Department Headquarters in Los Angeles, storage units at the Department’s Air facility in Pacoima, and a large warehouse in South Gate. Around the year 2000, the Association was granted use (rental) of an old auto repair shop in Bellflower. This facility became the first public face for the Association. The Los Angeles County Fire Museum became the brand for the public face around this time. The County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association is the official organization that oversees all of the Museum’s assets. In July of 2018, the City of Bellflower became a partner with the Association and now the new public face of the Museum is located on the bottom floor of Bellflower’s MAYNE EVENTS CENTER. The auto body repair building was purchased by the Association the same year and now houses the Los Angeles County Fire Museum’s “The Shop”, the place where all the hard restoration work is now performed.
Firewives

Firewives

Los Angeles County Fire Wives Private group has been created to support fire fighter wives and families with online support, important information(when necessary) and encouragement. Being the ones to hold down the fort at home is also difficult and it takes a strong woman to do it. So let's come alongside each other and encourage and support each other as our husbands are helping others.
County of Los Angeles Fire Department Chaplains

County of Los Angeles Fire Department Chaplains

The Relief Association is honored to partner with the LAFD Chaplain Core in support of our members. The chaplains provide a wide variety of services. This voluntary position, open to LAFD members of any rank, requires a great amount of dedication with a desire to serve. Some of the essential duties of our Chaplains are to assist the Los Angeles City Fire Department and community during times of crisis and serve as a spiritual resource, 24-hours a day
Stentorians of LA County

Stentorians of LA County

The STENTORIANS organization was founded in 1954, by African-American firefighters of the Los Angeles City and Los Angeles County Fire Departments. Their purpose and goals were to band together and address the discrimination and segregation challenges in the City’s Fire Department. The name STENTORIANS, was selected for its appropriateness from the word Stentor, a Greek Herald described in the Iliad as having the voice of fifty men, extremely loud and powerful, audibly expressing a very forceful sound. The STENTORIANS began to gain members from the Los Angeles County Fire Department as African-Americans slowly began to be hired in the early 1950’s. Today, the Los Angeles County STENTORIANS membership consists of over four hundred men and women both active and retired, sworn and non-sworn throughout the Southern California area. The Los Angeles County STENTORIANS belong to the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters, a National Organization in which the Los Angeles County STENTORIANS are charter members of. In 1990, the STENTORIANS re-structured and formed two chapters, the Los Angeles City and Los Angeles County Chapter. This re-structuring was due in part to the increased involvement of each organization with their respective Departments. Both organizations still remain close and continue to perform their community service endeavors jointly.
